Teller County Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care Training
Teller County Public Health, in conjunction with several community partners, is delighted to offer two free trainings for healthcare workers this spring. The first is a 2-day training in Motivational Interviewing, and the second is a 1-day training in Trauma-Informed Care. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative conversational style used by healthcare professionals to help decrease conflict and strengthen an individual’s reasons for and commitment to change. Trauma-Informed Care is an increasingly important lens for healthcare providers to look through that shifts the focus away from what may be wrong with an individual’s behaviors or choices to what happened in that individual’s life that led to that particular set of behaviors or health-related outcomes. Healthcare practitioners trained in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care are instrumental in reducing healthcare disparities across services. They are particularly needed in rural communities and in working with historically under-represented or marginalized communities. Registration is free but required in order to attend. We hope you will be able to join us!

NCPD: Trauma-Informed Care for Healthcare Professionals
with Ryan Kennedy, PsyD, LP, LAC, MAC, RN, ACS

DESCRIPTION: This class introduces healthcare professionals to the concept of trauma-informed care, an approach that is being adopted more frequently within the human services fields based upon an increased awareness of the ways in which trauma impacts functioning.
