Creative Systems Theory (CST): A Powerful Framework for Engaging Generative Processes in Therapy, Leadership, and Beyond

"Discovering New Narratives through Recognizing and Understanding Pattern and Reality"

DESCRIPTION: Creative Systems Theory (CST) is a deepening of contemporary systems theory that was developed by psychiatrist Charles Johnston at the Institute for Creative Development in Seattle, Washington, USA. Creative Systems Theory takes all of the basic premises of General Systems Theory (GST) and adds to it a discussion about how the formative process of inspiration, creation, manifestation, and integration affects all components in an organic, nonlinear, non-mechanistic way. As a strong believer in the need to see old problems in new ways, Johnston developed CST by integrating systems theory with much of the contemporary wisdom found in such diverse areas of study as physics, postmodern philosophy, biology, psychology, diversity studies, spirituality, economics, and the arts. Creative Systems Theory can be used as a powerful framework for assessing many dimensions of a client's therapeutic journey and is especially useful as tool for supporting and engaging clients in the creative process. It can also be a helpful resource for framing learning in diverse educational contexts and for encouraging skill acquisition and mastery at both the personal and professional levels. For this reason, it can serve as an excellent template for supporting graduate students and mental health professionals through various journeys such as writing papers and reports, completing internship and post-graduate training, completing certification programs, and even launching businesses. This experiential training acquaints participants with the CST arc of creative development and invites an appreciation for the gifts and challenges that are associated with each of the phases. As course participants explore each of the points in the creative cycle, they are invited to see the world through the different types of intelligences that are highlighted at each stage of development. They are also encouraged to recognize how all of the phases in creative process work are connected in intricate and potentially inexplicable ways, a phenomenon that Johnston described as creative causality. Creative causality is a fundamental force that guides living systems that is neither mechanistic nor mystical in nature. NOTE: This training can be taken independently and also as part of the Noeticus Organizational and Leadership Development: Level 2 - Practice Endorsement™ (NOLD-PE-2); Save an additional 20% by purchasing the complete NOLD-PE-2 Course Package. Clinical Supervision II: Advanced Concepts and Skills for Mental Health Professionals

"Transforming Accidental Intervention into Deliberate Oversight"

DESCRIPTION: In Colorado (and many other states), the only legal requirement to provide clinical supervision is having an active mental health license. Because of that, many mental health practitioners become clinical supervisors immediately upon receiving their licenses without having any additional training in the specialized counseling practice of clinical supervision. Functionally, this often translates into new supervisors using counseling skills to work with new supervisees instead of supervision skills, a scenario that isn't always very effective or even helpful. As an antidote to this serious problem within all of the mental health professions, the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE); An affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors [NBCC]) developed the voluntary Approved Clinical Supervisor™ (ACS™) credential. This training is the first part of a three-part series covering the theory and practice of clinical supervision, all of which (when taken together) meet the training requirements for the ACS™ through the CCE. During our Clinical Supervision I training, participants learn the theoretical foundations. During our Clinical Supervision II training, participants build upon their theoretical foundations and add to them practical skills. Finally, during our Clinical Supervision III training, participants integrate the principles and theory they learned in Clinical Supervision I with the advanced concepts and skills taught in Clinical Supervision II and apply them in an experiential format. NOTE: This training can be taken independently, as an educational requirement for ACS™ Certification through the CCE, and also as part of the Noeticus Intentional Clinical Supervision: Level 1 - Professional Endorsement™ (NICS-PE-1) and/or the more comprehensive Noeticus Intentional Clinical Supervision - Certification Program™ (NICS-CP); Save 20% by purchasing the complete NICS-PE-1 Course Package. Spiral Dynamics® II: Applying Clare Graves' Emergent Cyclical Levels of Existence Theory (ECLET) Model to the Personal and Organizational Change Process

"Deepening into the Dynamic Intersection of Life Conditions and Mind Capacities"

DESCRIPTION: Spiral Dynamics® (SD) refers to the colorful way in which change consultants Chris Cowan and Don Beck came to call Emergent Cyclical Levels of Existence Theory (ECLET), a theory that was originally generated by developmental psychologist Clare W. Graves, PhD and later adapted by contemporary philosopher Ken Wilber as part of his Integral Approach. In essence, it is a progressive model of human development that explores how life circumstances shape thought processes and what the value systems are that give those experiences meaning. In the first part of this engaging two-part experiential class series (Spiral Dynamics® I), participants are introduced to the basic elements of the model, which provides context for understanding how "value-holding systems" are associated with motivation, beliefs, and behaviors. The second part of the series focuses on applying these concepts specifically to individual and organizational change (Spiral Dynamics® II). Participants interested in purchasing and completing their own SD assessments prior to the Spiral Dynamics® II training will have the opportunity to do so at an additional charge and are encouraged to use them during the class to help better understand themselves as individuals and/or as part of a team or organization. Participants who choose not to purchase individual assessments can still participate, however, they will receive generic assessments. NOTE: This training can be taken independently and is also part of the Noeticus Organizational and Leadership Development: Level 2 - Practice Endorsement™ (NOLD-PE-2); Save 20% by purchasing all four Level I trainings at once; Learn more HERE.

Clinical Supervision II: Advanced Concepts and MI Integration

"Further Transforming Accidental Intervention into Deliberate Oversight"

DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Clinical Supervision II class is to train clinical supervisors, clinicians, and other service providers who already have acquired basic supervisory skills - and/or who have or will have a supervisory role - on how to observe and coach their supervisees in the proper application of these skills in diverse and integrated care environments. Where the focus in the Clinical Supervision I class was on the relationship between the client and the supervisee, the focus in the Clinical Supervision II training is on the relationship between the supervisor and the supervisee. The class discusses strategies to utilize evidence-based tools and practices intentionally and effectively along the entire continuum of care from prevention through recovery. There is also an emphasis on participants learning tools for providing enhanced, supervisee-specific, setting-sensitive (e.g. group vs. individual supervision, agency settings, etc.) feedback to better mentor their supervisees. Participants critically discuss the integration of modalities of treatment (e.g., ACT, BSFT, CBT, DBT, MI, etc.) within the use of developmental, treatment-based, recovery-based, integrative, and competency-based modalities of supervision. Additionally, this and all addiction counselor classes seek to enhance the ability of the counselor to offer treatment services in a manner that respects gender, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, cultural, familial, systemic, and socioeconomic diversity.
